A year in the life of a TIME Bot

One year for the team is split into five sections. Even though we split up our year, we are always preparing, updating, and looking for new sponsors while working on projects.

Pre-Season: August-January

This is the time of the year where we prepare for our new season. We educate our new team members on roles, responsibilities, and teamwork. We communicate with sponsors to secure their support.

Build Season: January-February

This six week long time frame is the only time when we are allowed to build our robot. This is the busiest part of the year as we meet almost every day of the week. Most team members put in over 300 hours in the shop alone, while many other students do additional work at home.

Competition Prep: February-March

After build season we have a few weeks to get ready for competition. Some of the things we will do is practice driving with our shadow bot, assemble our pit or base of operations, and make promotional items to hand out at our pit.

Competition: March

At least once a year we go to a regional competition that lasts four days, during which we participate in cooperation with teams from across the world. It is a chance for us to have a one-of-a-time experience.

Post Season: March-August

After all of our competitions we take a long much needed break before we brainstorm and prototype ideas for the coming year. This time is the best time of the year for us to participate in community outreach. At this time of the year we only meet one time a week, but we still get our work done.
